Alison is a published national and International researcher and author.

Alison’s background is largely in Cardiology in a variety of roles, including coronary care nursing and cardiac rehabilitation. She has also worked as a heart failure specialist nurse in the community. This has given her insight into the emotional impact of sudden serious illness, the difficulties and uncertainties faced by patients and relatives: together with the professional interaction required.

Alison’s main interest and passion is to improve communication skills across the health and social care sector for professionals and staff at all levels. She is an accredited trainer and facilitator of advanced communication skills, regularly facilitating both two and three-day courses. She also leads on and facilitates a range of courses and workshops including  SAGE & THYME, advance care planning and ReSPECT training, which focus on improving communication with patients and relatives. She has written and presented extensively in this area and has published in clinical journals, books and a number of other platforms.

Alison’s research has been recognised by the Royal College of Physicians who awarded her the Masters Prize in Palliative Care.

Qualifications: RGN, MSc (Advanced Nursing), independent nurse prescriber. accredited advanced communication skills trainer.
